Specialists are rare, but essential for the continued existence of a company. How Berger from Memmingen actively strives for new young talents.

Nowadays, trainers can no longer rely on the classic application process. The cover letter or a mandatory personal interview are now being replaced by recruiting bots and assessment centers. Berger is also breaking new ground in Ottobeuren. Here the training workshop opened its doors for an apprentice speed dating. Interested students were given an insight into the manufacturer’s apprenticeships on site. They also had the opportunity to conduct a short job interview with the training managers in an uncomplicated manner. In addition, the specialists of tomorrow were given a tour of the production halls.

Participation in the Trainee Spot 2022

Berger’s presence at the Azubi Spot 2022 shows that classic forms are still effective in the finding process. Berger was also among the 20 regional exhibitors at the Cineplex Memmingen. “Today, the schoolchildren could look forward to a very special visit to the cinema: interesting discussions, lots of fun and action, great prizes and, last but not least, good prospects of a top apprenticeship or university place,” sums up Markus Kiefer, industrial training manager at the Memmingen site.

Memmingen training fair as a platform for personal exchange

Participation in the Memmingen training fair also paid off for Berger. The local representatives had interesting discussions with numerous students about their professional future. The in-house trainees from the Memmingen and Ottobeuren locations were able to share their teaching experiences first-hand. Hundreds of young people flocked to the BBZ Jakob Küner, the Johann Bierwirth School and the vocational high school (FOS / BOS) Memmingen to take part in the event.

Apprentices explore AMB Stuttgart

At Berger, trainees are not only contact persons at trade fairs, they also become visitors themselves. This is also the case at the AMB Stuttgart, an international trade fair for metalworking. Among other things, they received a tour from Christian Thönes, CEO of the Allgäu machine manufacturer DMG MORI. The trainees had the opportunity to explore the various exhibition halls before they left for home. “Through trainee excursions such as the visit to the AMB Stuttgart, we apprentices get an insight into the future of machining – thank you for that,” explains Florijan Berisha, trainee cutting machine operator at the Memmingen site.
