How Bavaria’s economy is suffering from the delayed energy transition – Bavaria

At first glance, the factory, which is supposed to be a role model in Bavaria, looks like so many factories under construction: high halls, framed by construction equipment and fields. The flat roof, which actually consists of several small sloping roofs, catches the eye at second glance. Space for lots of photovoltaics. With the help of the sun, the client, Schaltbau, wants to produce 1.4 megawatts of electricity – and thanks to heat pumps, storage batteries and an energy management system, they want to supply their new plant with around 50 percent self-generated energy. “Everyone is talking about it,” says Schaltbau boss Jürgen Brandes: “We’ll do it.”
