How about one of Luchon’s old gondola lifts?

They are white and green, and have been carrying downhill enthusiasts in the Pyrenees for nearly 30 years. The regulars of Superbagnères ski resort are familiar with the four-seater gondolas that connect the city of Bagneres-de-Luchon to the tracks. But to give a facelift to the station, and improve service, the Syndicate Haute-Garonne Mountain who manages it, decided to invest in a new infrastructure.

This new equipment, a valley lift called “Crémaillère express”, will allow users to travel in 10-seat cabins in eight minutes, instead of 15 minutes until now, and 30 minutes by car. The 1,500 to 2,500 passengers per hour who should be able to use it next winter will even be able to transport their bicycles on sunny days, stretchers during ski falls or wheelchairs for people with reduced mobility.

500 euros, delivery not included

This vast project began in mid-April, with the dismantling of the 124 cabins. But there is no question of sending them to the scrapyard. These “eggs” will be sold to lovers of unusual objects at a price of 500 euros each, and only one per family. Decorative, they can land in a garden or in a sauna. But given its size of 2 meters high by 1.8 m wide, do not hope to make a cottage.

Fans of skiing and board sports with a vintage feel can submit their purchase proposal to [email protected]. If they receive a positive response, they will have to find a way to transport their 200 kg “egg”, because at this price, delivery is not included.
