Housing shortage: A new piece of Freiburg – Economy

If you want to understand Germany’s housing shortage, you have to go to Dietenbach. Meadows, fields, a few woods and a stream, undeveloped land in the west of Freiburg. A new district is to be created here for 16,000 residents. But today the Chancellor is standing here. Olaf Scholz (SPD) likes to adorn himself with new building projects; his government has set the goal of building 400,000 of them a year – and has missed it by 2023. Things are looking even worse this year. So there needs to be more speed.
