Hostages in Gaza: Carmel Gat is held captive – a meeting with her brother – Culture

The Israeli Carmel Gat has been held hostage in Gaza for months. A meeting with her brother Alon Gat, who cannot afford to lose hope.

I meet Alon Gat in the square in front of the Tel Aviv Art Museum, which has been renamed “Hostages Square” in recent months. Art installations can be seen there as a reminder that more than 130 people are still being held captive in Gaza – young and old, men and women. Demonstrations are also held here every week. These are heartbreaking events where many people witness in silence and tears in their eyes as family members of hostages take the stage and scream for help. It is a venue for many initiatives. One of them is organized by friends of 39-year-old Carmel Gat, Alon’s sister, who was kidnapped by Hamas terrorists on October 7th.
