For the first time in Oscar history, three women will moderate the gala. The three comedians advertise their performance with funny videos.

Comedian Bob Hope has hosted the Academy Awards 19 times, Billy Crystal has done it nine times and Johnny Carson five times. Now three newcomers want to stir up Hollywood’s biggest show and for the first time in Oscar history there are three women.

Actresses Amy Schumer (40, “Dating Queen”), Regina Hall (51, “Girls Trip”) and Wanda Sykes (58, “Bad Moms”) will host the 94th Academy Awards on March 27th.

They could have won three very dynamic and funny women, show producer Will Packer said of the trio. Schumer leaves no doubt about that. The comedian recently agreed to her Oscar performance with bare skin. In an Instagram video, filmed half-naked from behind, only with black panties, she dances through a dressing room. She was trying on outfits for the Oscar gala, the comedian wrote with the hashtags #badtattoo and #baddancing. With that, she joked about the large tattoo on her back and her dancing skills.

With her sayings on the Oscar stage, she will definitely get into trouble, Schumer predicted in the TV interview with “Extra”. The three comedians advertise the upcoming show with funny videos. They would definitely do better than their predecessor at the previous gala. No question, because in the last three years the film academy had done without hosts. Instead, there were only prominent laudators who announced the winners.

For decades, moderators have been in the limelight, setting the tone with gags. At the beginning of the awards gala, they usually gave an opening monologue, with digs at politics and show business.

That role now goes to Schumer, Hall and Sykes. With the choice of the quick-witted trio, the film academy is sending a clear signal. In view of the falling number of viewers, the organizers are trying to loosen up the ossified format and inspire a younger audience.
