Man with 1000 Faces: Camden Toy will definitely be remembered by many viewers as the villain in “Buffy the Vampire Slayer”. The actor died at the age of 68.

Millions of television viewers may not know his face, but they have certainly been frightened by him: The one from the USHorror series “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” (1997-2003) famous TV villain Camden Toy is dead.

As many US media outlets unanimously reported on Thursday, he died on Monday at the age of 68 after a long illness. In his roles, Toy was mostly masked beyond recognition. He was usually cast as a demon or other devilish creature.

The American appeared in various roles in the “Buffy” universe. He was always the powerful original vampire “Übervamp”, who is one of the toughest opponents of the title heroine Buffy (Sarah Michelle Gellar).

Gellar never saw his real face either

For example, he also played the nasty demon Gnarl, who tears off the skin of his drugged victims in order to eat them. In “Buffy” fan circles, Gnarl is considered the most fearsome monster in the series. Lead actress Gellar later said in an interview that despite many scenes together, she had never seen Toy’s real face.

Toy also appeared in the “Buffy” spin-off “Angel”, and later also in series such as “Shameless” and “The Mentalist”.

Among the expressions of mourning on the dead man’s Facebook page is an entry from actor Doug Jones, who played the scary villains “The Gentlemen” with Toy on “Buffy”: “This is bitter,” he wrote. “To know Toy was to love him. We met in the guise of fearsome gentlemen, but that resulted in a deep friendship that lasted 24 years. Rarely do you find a person so cheerful, smiling, smart, talented , excited and always ready for a hug,” he continued. “A person who was good at listening with his heart. Relatable to everyone, including his many fans.”
