Driver survived horror crash on the A1 |

Crashed under a trailer truck with a car transporter

Gevelsberg – And again, a serious rear-end collision claimed victims. The driver of a van was injured in the crash – danger to life not excluded!

In the afternoon, emergency calls from the A1 to the fire brigade and police were received at the same time: near the Klosterholz car park near Gevelsberg (Ennepe-Ruhr district), a semitrailer and a small van with a trailer collided in the direction of Bremen.

A horror scenario at the scene of the accident: two-thirds of the driver’s cab of the orange car transporter is under the rear of a 40-ton truck. Only part of the driver’s side of the small truck can still be seen. While no one would have survived in the passenger seat, the driver is still responsive.

However, he is trapped in the completely deformed wreckage and has to be freed by the fire brigade using special hydraulic equipment. The rescue helicopter then flies him to a clinic.

According to initial findings, the articulated lorry had braked and the car transporter had driven up or had possibly tried to swerve to the side.

The A1 in the direction of Bremen will be completely closed at 4 p.m. for the rescue work, the recording of the accident and the recovery of the vehicles. 32 firefighters with eleven vehicles are on duty. It is feared that when the truck and car transporter are pulled apart, large quantities of operating materials will spill out and have to be removed and disposed of properly.
