35 years after the original hit comes the sequel to “Beetlejuice”. Tim Burton also directed the second film again. A number of Hollywood stars are taking part.

The long-planned “Beetlejuice” sequel now has a film title and a start date. The studio Warner Bros. released the first poster for “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice” on Thursday, referencing this year’s theatrical release on September 6th.

US director Tim Burton (65, “Batman”, “Alice in Wonderland”) announced on Instagram in November last year that filming had now been completed. Burton also directed the original hit “Beetlejuice” (1988) 36 years ago.

In the sequel, which doubles the name to “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice”, a number of stars from back then star again, including Michael Keaton, Winona Ryder and Catherine O’Hara. New additions include Willem Dafoe, Jenna Ortega, Monica Bellucci and Justin Theroux.

The original horror comedy revolved around a dead couple (played by Alec Baldwin and Geena Davis) who want to stay in their mansion. They hire the crazy poltergeist Beetlejuice (Keaton) to scare away the newly moved-in residents (Ryder as a teenage daughter). Whenever his name is spoken three times in a row, the wild spirit is there.
