Bob horror accident: first diagnosis
A serious accident occurs at the Bobsleigh World Cup in Altenberg. The Swiss Sandro Michel was even in mortal danger at one point.

Even before the actual World Cup race in Altenberg, Saxony, a horror accident occurred in the Swiss four-man bobsleigh during a training run. In particular, pusher Sandro Michel suffered a serious injury and was floating loudly View temporarily in mortal danger.

Apparently pilot Michael Vogt’s bobsled slipped back onto the track after the uphill finish and hit Michel, who had previously fallen out. According to a statement from the Swiss Sliding Association, the 27-year-old had to be flown immediately to the Dresden University Clinic.
According to the latest information from the association, Michel suffered injuries to his pelvis, thigh area and chest and was operated on the night after the fall. More detailed information about the extent of the injuries should follow further investigations.

Vogt was also injured and had to go to a local hospital to be checked; the two other pushers, Andreas Haas and Dominik Hufschmid, sustained minor injuries.
Four-man bobsleigh raised hopes for a medal
The Swiss four-man bobsleigh originally gave Switzerland dreams of medals in the fight against the German teams, but these quickly became irrelevant.
The Vogt/Michel duo in particular have had successful careers for several years. After fourth place at the 2022 Olympic Games and bronze at the World Cup last year, the two of them achieved Switzerland’s first World Cup victory in around six years in December.
Before Switzerland’s serious fall, the German bobsleigh team led by five-time world champion Johannes Lochner had already fallen.
