A transgender woman from the US state of Florida has documented the physical changes during her eight months of hormone replacement therapy (HRT) in a video.
Brendan McCann has been taking a selfie every day since beginning treatment in August 2022.
The time-lapse clip contains a total of 226 frames.
Brendan is 23 years old and uses the non-binary “they/them” pronouns.
The documentation of the hormone treatment is intended to give other transsexuals the “confidence to start hormone replacement therapy”.
Brendan is originally from the UK but moved to America when he was two years old. Brendan hasn’t changed socially yet – that’s one of the reasons for continuing to use the birth name.
Because the cost of hormone replacement therapy is so high, Brendan says surgery isn’t on the cards for the foreseeable future. Instead, a laser hair removal is planned.
Florida, the state where Brendan resides, is considered one of the most trans-hostile states in the US. Most recently, lawmakers in the Republican-ruled state approved legislation banning doctors from performing sex reassignment medical procedures on minors.
