Honor in Bad Tölz: City Council honors five citizens – Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen

It is a nice custom in Bad Tölz that the city council honors deserving citizens in its last meeting before Christmas. So also this year. Camilla Plöckl and Helmut Drexler were awarded the Silver Citizen’s Medal. Sybille Schultz and the couple Dagmar Karl and Reinhold Pohle (head of the Tölzer Tafel) received the Tölz service medal. The children’s handball team from TV Bad Tölz was already awarded the Tölz Youth Prize at the sports club’s St. Nicholas tournament in the triple gymnasium. There is 500 euros to support volunteer work.

Camilla Plöckl has been committed to the common good and to the concerns of the socially disadvantaged in the spa town for many years. She was not only a member of the city council for 15 years, but is also the founder of the Tölz dog regulars’ table, as well as the organizer of the dog Ramadama and was also the spokeswoman for the cycling working group for a long time. Camilla Plöckl has been chairwoman of the Awo local association in Bad Tölz since 2020 and acts there with her own hustle and bustle: Since the beginning of the Tölz Christmas market, she has proven that she is not too bad about any task and always lends a hand, where she regularly sells tickets for the good cause can be found.

From 1975 to 2007 Helmut Drexler was sacristan of the parish church Maria Himmelfahrt for more than 31 years. Mesner is a versatile profession, which he filled with passion and attention to detail. Among other things, he took care of the decoration in the church interior and the design of the altar crib. According to a press release from the city, it was precisely there that it became clear with what commitment he fulfilled the tasks when he – together with his supporters – designed the biblical scenes that frequently changed for the high festivals. In particular, the intensive care and training of the altar boys stands for Drexler’s enthusiasm and personal connection to his task, to the town parish church and to the people who gather there as a congregation. To this day he is a member of the Choralschola. It is also to his great credit that Vespers (the church’s evening prayer) has been celebrated regularly on weekdays since the time of Pastor Rupert Berger.

For more than 20 years, Sybille Schultz has been working on a voluntary basis in various functions for the Bad Tölz water sports club. In various positions, she looked after various active groups both in competitive sports and in the youth sector. Schultz organizes swimming courses for children and supports the lifeguards at the Tölz indoor pool with the courses. Si is and was a co-organizer of various swimming and triathlon competitions. “Your commitment to the WSV Bad Tölz is exceptional and therefore exemplary for all of us,” said the mayor of Tölz, Ingo Mehner (CSU), in his laudatory speech.

When the Tölzer Tafel was founded in 2002, Dagmar Karl was a founding member. Together with her partner Reinhold Pohle, she has managed the Tafel since 2016 until this year. Together with their fellow campaigners, both provided between 150 and 300 citizens with donated food every week. An important point of her work was the conversion and digitization of the organization. For example, the work of the approximately 100 volunteers has been made easier with the new duty rosters and timetables. The refugee crisis in 2015 presented a major challenge. The corona crisis was just as difficult to overcome. The number of buyers rose rapidly again this year due to the refugees fleeing the war of aggression in the Ukraine.

The Silver Citizen’s Medal can be awarded to personalities who have made a special contribution to the town of Bad Tölz. The Tölz Medal of Merit goes to men and women who have volunteered for the city and its citizens in an exemplary manner over many years.
