Homophobic songs examined Thursday by the LFP

The homophobic chants sung by Rennes supporters on Sunday at Roazhon Park against Nantes will be examined on Thursday by the disciplinary committee of the Professional Football League (LFP), AFP learned on Monday from the League. In the 21st minute of the match counting for the 7th day of L1, ultras from the Roazhon Celtic Kop resumed homophobic chants targeting the people of Nantes in general, and Matthis Abline, former Rennes player loaned this summer, in particular.

The commission will take up this case on Thursday, indicated the LFP, confirming information from The Team, but could only summon the Rennes club next week. A possible sanction against Rennes is not “automatic”, “the defense has rights” and a decision will therefore not be made on Thursday, explained a source within the League.

Parisians apologize after their insulting chants against OM

The disciplinary committee also summoned PSG and four of its players for Thursday: the club for homophobic chants sung by thousands of supporters on September 24 against Marseille; the players for insulting chants repeated during the post-match celebrations at the foot of the Auteuil corner.

On this subject, Ousmane Dembélé, Randal Kolo Muani, Achraf Hakimi and Layvin Kurzawa apologized on Sunday on social networks, saying they “sincerely regret” their words, particularly with regard to their “duty to set an example”. An apology that could push the disciplinary committee to show leniency towards them? See you Thursday evening to find out the answer.
