According to the Bloomberg news agency, the Chinese household technology manufacturer Midea Group is considering a possible takeover of the Swedish appliance brand Electrolux. Midea has made an initial approach to the home appliance maker regarding a possible transaction in recent weeks, people who declined to be named said. Other Asian household appliance manufacturers, including Samsung Electronics, have also shown an interest in the Swedish company. The Chinese company, based in Foshan in Guangdong Province, acquired a majority stake in Toshiba Corp’s home appliances division in 2016. A year later, it acquired German robot maker Kuka, raising concerns from the German government.
