Kiel. Bitter start to the second half of the season for Holstein Kiel in front of a sold-out crowd: In the home game against Eintracht Braunschweig, the Störche lost 1-2 on Friday evening despite leading 1-0. In a game that was hard-fought from the start, coach Marcel Rapp’s team seemed insecure and sloppy in their own play with the ball, but still took the lead. After a counterattack, Steven Skrzybski shot from the halfway line and sank the ball over BTSV keeper Rob Thorben Hoffmann and into the net (11th). But committed Braunschweigers struck back before the break. The KSV were counterattacked in their own stadium and Fabio Kaufmann scored to equalize 1-1 (44th).

After the break, the spectators saw a similar picture. Holstein seemed unusually fidgety in his own game, especially on defense. The Lower Saxony team took advantage of this after just under an hour. Rayan Philippe slotted the ball into the net after Robin Krauße prepared a header (59′) – game turned. Although the home team threw everything forward again in the following minutes and coach Rapp used all of his five substitutions, in the end it was no longer enough to win a point. Holstein Kiel had to admit defeat 1:2 after 90 minutes.
