Glamorous world premiere of a dark film: In New York, a number of stars cavorted on the red carpet. However, a major contributor to the new “Batman” film was missing.

“The Batman” director Matt Reeves is ill and therefore could not attend the premiere party in New York.

Despite full vaccination and boosters, he got Covid, the US director said in a video message at the film premiere on Tuesday evening.

His health is good, but he regrets his absence very much because the film means so much to him, the 55-year-old continued. The video was linked by the editor of the film magazine “Variety” on Twitter.

“Batman” star Robert Pattinson, “Catwoman” Zoë Kravitz and other cast members including Paul Dano, Colin Farrell and Andy Serkis attended the event at New York’s Lincoln Center.

The Warner Bros. studio, which is bringing the comic adaptation “The Batman” to cinemas worldwide, will not be showing the film in Russia for the time being. Warner Bros. joined several major Hollywood studios in action this week to suspend film releases in Russia in light of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
