The nominated scripts have been announced: the Writers Guild of America will announce the winners in April.

The social satire “Barbie” and the historical drama “Oppenheimer” are up for this year’s awards Hollywood screenwriters nominated. The Writers Guild of America (WGA) announced the selection of candidates in several categories. The trophies are scheduled to be awarded on April 14 at ceremonies in New York and Los Angeles.

In the original screenplay category, the screenplays for the films “Air”, “The Holdovers”, “May December” and “Past Lives” compete with “Barbie”.

Competing for the award for best adapted screenplay with “Oppenheimer” are the films based on “American Fiction”, “Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret”, “Killers of the Flower Moon” and “Nyad”.

The WGA award winners often coincide with the Oscar winners. Last year, for example, the WGA winners for original screenplay (“Everything Everywhere All At Once”) and adapted screenplay (“Women Talking”) also won the corresponding Oscars.
