Most recently, the US actor was mainly seen on the screens because of his legal battle with ex-wife Amber Heard. Now Johnny Depp has traveled to France for filming.

Hollywood star Johnny Depp (59) is in a first photo from the film “Jeanne Du Barry” in the role of the French king Louis XV. (1710-1774). The French director and actress Maïwenn (46, “My one, my everything”) and the production company Why Not Productions published the photo on Wednesday. It shows Depp with a fur hat and white curly wig, powdered face, eyes covered with a black bandage.

The shooting of the historical drama started in France at the end of July, as reported by the US industry journal Deadline.com. In early June, Depp won a broad victory in a US defamation lawsuit with his ex-wife Amber Heard. The jury awarded the “Pirates of the Caribbean” star high damages. For the first time in three years, Depp is back in front of the film camera. The drama revolves around the king’s relationship with his last mistress, Jeanne Du Barry (Maïwenn), who came from a poor background.

Depp’s career collapsed at times due to the headline-grabbing court battle with his ex-wife, who accused him of violence. So he was replaced in 2020 in “Fantastic Beasts: Dumbledore’s Secrets” by the Dane Mads Mikkelsen. Shortly before, Depp had lost a lawsuit against the tabloid “Sun” in Great Britain. Depp had sued over an article alleging he physically abused Heard.
