A scene in the freight elevator of the Hotel Ukraina in Kyiv, Thursday evening. The regular elevator is blocked again, an older man gets in, somehow familiar. Over the course of nine floors, it turns out to be Abel Ferrara acts. So the Abel Ferrara, director of “Bad Lieutenant”, “King of New York”, most recently he directed the nightmarish and elusive film “Zeros and Ones” starring Ethan Hawke. “What am I doing in Ukraine?” asks Ferrara. “I’m a documentary filmmaker. Where else would I be?”
