Holidays in the Balearic Islands: How Mallorca should become sustainable – Travel

One industry has been one of the pandemic winners on the Balearic Islands since this week: the bed manufacturers. Because the archipelago’s new tourism law stipulates, among other things, that from 2023 all hotel beds must be replaced by height-adjustable beds – as a back protection measure for the 20,000 cleaning staff on the islands. They make beds on a piece basis in the high season. The law is due to come into force soon. It is intended to initiate many changes in labor rights, in sustainable management and in general in the quality of the tourist offer.
