Holetschek advises vaccination against Covid-19 and flu – Bavaria

The Bavarian Health Minister Klaus Holetschek (CSU) recommends vaccination against corona and flu. This applies in particular to people aged 60 and over, with previous illnesses or with an increased risk of infection through work – for example among medical and nursing staff, the ministry announced on Wednesday. The minister emphasized that the most important protection against severe disease is still the Covid-19 vaccination.

The new adapted vaccine is expected to be delivered from September 18th. “The development of Corona is currently not worrying, even if an increase in the number of infections is expected in the fall,” said Holetschek. “During the “cold season” in autumn and winter, the number of infections will probably increase – as is the case with other respiratory diseases. But that in itself is no reason to worry. Thanks to the successful vaccination campaign and the infections we have experienced, we have a very high level of immunity the population.”

You have to learn to deal with the virus, said the minister. People’s personal responsibility is crucial. “This includes, above all, ensuring adequate vaccination protection.” It remains important to keep an eye on your own vaccination status and refresh it if necessary. Vaccinations against flu and corona can be carried out at the same time, even if there is no combination vaccine yet.
