Höhenkirchen-Siegertsbrunn: Discussion about crossing conversion – district of Munich

At the end of his tirade in the Höhenkirchen-Siegertsbrunn municipal council, Otto Bußjäger (independent citizens) gave a geography lesson: “If I want to go from here to Denmark, then I won’t drive via Rome.” And just as nonsensical, in his view, would be the development of the Ganser site in Kirchstockach from the south, which has been planned for a long time in the neighboring town of Brunnthal. “We would be pulling traffic from the north to us in the south, which then drives north again,” criticizes the bus hunter. “This road through the forest is the most imbecile thing since the Tower of Babel.”

Now such a connection, which should lead to the intersection of State Road 2078 (Rosenheimer Landstrasse) and Münchner Strasse, is now off the table – emphasized Mayor Mindy Konwitschny (SPD) in the municipal council. However, the considerations for this road two years ago led to Brunnthal, Hohenbrunn and Höhenkirchen-Siegertsbrunn jointly commissioning a traffic study – not least with a view to the junction mentioned. The results of this study, which Helmuth Ammerl from the Obermeyer office presented to the Höhenkirchen-Siegertsbrunn municipal council, are now available. About the intersection of Staatsstrasse and Münchner Strasse, where traffic jams often occur and there are also regular crashes, the traffic planner said: “This junction is no longer efficient today. Actually, it should be upgraded.”

According to Ammerl, the main reason for this is the high volume of traffic at peak times in the morning and in the evening. And: The few vehicles that want to turn left onto the state road coming from Höhenkirchen have to wait a long time and thus slow down the others. A roundabout at the site – such considerations have been around for a long time – would not solve the problem, emphasized Ammerl. His office’s analysis showed that this “neuralgic” intersection would remain overloaded even after such a conversion. It would look different with a traffic light solution. “Then this node would work,” said Ammerl. In addition, a signal for people turning left would increase safety at this accident black spot.

Today, 11,000 vehicles are already on the way through town every day. And there are more and more

In addition to the intersection in the northwest of the municipality, the experts also examined the traffic volume in Höhenkirchen-Siegertsbrunn itself and the effects of a possible extension of the bypass to Egmatinger Straße. For this purpose, the passing vehicles were counted by cameras at ten intersections in the village for several days, Ammerl explained. In addition, his office calculated a forecast for the traffic in the year 2035. According to this, around 11,000 vehicles are already driving through the town every day. And in the future there would be even more, emphasized Ammerl. “There will be strong traffic increases everywhere in the region.”

According to the expert, an extension of the bypass in the southeast of the municipality to Egmatinger Straße would be used by 4,500 vehicles every day. “That could reduce the load on the through-town by almost 2,000 vehicles” – provided, of course, that Tempo 30 applies there. “My first impression is: It doesn’t add up that much,” commented Manfred Eberhard (UB) on these numbers. “Perhaps we should think about other connections.” Exactly this will now be the task of the municipal council, said the mayor. “Now we have well-founded traffic figures on which we can base our reflections and make decisions.”
