A Dutch officer died during an exercise in Bavaria. The 28-year-old lieutenant was seriously injured during an exercise with an infantry vehicle, the Ministry of Defense announced on Tuesday evening in The Hague. He later died in hospital from his serious injuries. Another soldier was slightly injured in the accident. How the incident could have happened is being investigated.
The Dutch unit is preparing for a deployment in Lithuania at the Hohenfels training area. The Netherlands is taking part in a NATO mission in the country with 270 soldiers. The battalion is under German leadership.
