Hohenbrunn treats itself to a new Feststadel – district of Munich

Despite numerous other investments in the tens of millions, the municipality of Hohenbrunn is about to start planning another major project: The Feststadel on the Muna site is to be removed because the directly adjacent Hall K, previously also used for events, is ready for demolition and the property apparently to be sold. As early as December 2021, the municipal council had agreed in principle to rebuild the barn near the old location to the west of the building yard. The sticking point is the dear money: According to the latest estimates, the new building will cost 1.9 million euros, Mayor Stefan Straßmair (CSU) expects that it could be even more expensive. Another clear financial burden, among other things, in addition to the indoor swimming pool, which costs around 25 million euros, and the seven million euros that the reason for the new secondary school alone costs.

The lower area of the new barn is to be built in solid construction, there will be a bar and party rooms in addition to the sanitary facilities and the kitchen. The first floor, intended for dance events, will have a wooden facade and a large balcony. There will be beer benches outside, and a garden area with space for open-air parties and childcare is also planned. The use should be possible on the one hand by clubs, but also by private individuals. “I would like to have it, but it costs a lot of money,” Straßmair said at the most recent municipal council meeting. Most of the colleagues on the committee were in favor of setting up such a large meeting place. “It’s important for the village community,” said CSU faction leader Anton Fritzmaier. Pauline Miller (Bürgerforum) said that such a barn would revitalize the community, but that it was not enough for athletes to use it. Mechthild Heinmüller (SPD) and Wolfgang Schmidhuber (Greens) also spoke out clearly in favor of such a building. However, Peter Berger (ÜWG) had little to do with the draft submitted: “I can’t get anything out of this industrial building, it has no heart and no feelings.”

An alternative location, roughly north of the planned school sports field west of the S-Bahn, as requested by various club representatives, according to Straßmair, was rejected by the municipal councils. “I think this location near the A 99 is highly problematic,” said the mayor, mentioning the danger that drunks could throw beer bottles onto the highway.

It was unanimously decided that the municipality would tackle the construction of a new Feststadel. In the next step, the chairmen of the municipal council factions are to meet with representatives of the associations to discuss their wishes for the building, after which a building committee meeting will be convened in which the details will be clarified.
