Hohenbrunn – Advisory Board for the Disabled calls for second platform – district of Munich

In the debate about the redesign of the Hohenbrunn S-Bahn station, the Disabled Advisory Board of the District of Munich (BBLKM) has now spoken. In an open letter to district administrator Christoph Göbel (CSU) and the members of the district council, the chairwoman of the advisory board, Frauke Schwaiblmair, demands that the station not only be barrier-free, but also have two platforms that should be accessible via ramps. As was recently announced in the Hohenbrunn municipal council, however, Deutsche Bahn favors a variant that retains the previous island platform and equips it with an elevator. “The BBLKM strongly recommends not pursuing this solution because it does not represent a reliable barrier-free development of the platform,” writes Schwaiblmair, who used to be a member of the district council for the Greens. The station is often affected by vandalism, so damage to the lift is also to be expected. “In these cases, the train would no longer be accessible without barriers, travelers who depend on accessibility would be trapped on the platform after arriving by train,” says Schwaiblmair, who is asking the district council members for a corresponding decision.
