A 28-year-old father has been jailed for abusing and seriously injuring his three-month-old twin babies. The Hof district court announced on Wednesday that he had been sentenced to three years’ imprisonment for, among other things, severe abuse of those in custody.
According to a court spokeswoman, the man first pressed one of the two sons on the changing table so hard on the thigh last September that it broke. Hours later, he hit his twin brother on the head. He suffered a fractured skull and was initially in mortal danger. However, the children are not expected to suffer permanent damage, said the court spokeswoman.
The man felt overwhelmed. In the process he had confessed and regretted the deeds. He was remanded in custody shortly after the abuse. He waived appeals, Tuesday’s verdict is final.
