German hockey women reach the final of the European Indoor Championships
The German hockey women are again in the final of the European Indoor Championships. After a 7-0 win in the semi-final against Austria, they can now defend their title in the final against Poland.
Mannheim’s Ines Wanner (13th/26th) contributed two goals, Tara Duus (7th/seven meters) and Pia Lhotak (22nd) each scored once. National coach Dominic Giskes’ team will play in the final on Sunday (2 p.m.) against Poland, which beat Spain 2-1 (0-0) in the semi-finals.
The hosts had previously finished their preliminary round Group A as undefeated leaders with four wins from four games. “We are very satisfied, we are getting better from game to game and we have now got into the game well,” said Laura Saenger from Hamburg, who scored four goals in the 5:3 (3:2) win against Belgium.
