Glimmer of hope in a suspected murder case in Hockenheim: The police have found the five-week-old daughter of a murdered Ukrainian woman. Two suspects were arrested.

After a dead woman was found on the Rhine dam Hockenheim investigators have arrested two suspects aged 43 and 44. As the police headquarters in Mannheim announced on Friday, both are strongly suspected of having killed the 27-year-old woman. Both appeared before a judge on Thursday and were then taken to correctional facilities.

As the police have now announced, the officers found the five-week-old daughter when the two suspects were arrested on Wednesday in the Rhein-Neckar district. The girl was taken into care unharmed and taken to hospital as a precaution. A DNA test determined the identity of the infant.

Mother of the missing person in Hockenheim has not yet been found

The 27-year-old is a Ukrainian refugee. A passer-by discovered the dead woman on Thursday last week on the Rhine dam near Hockenheim in the Rhein-Neckar district. According to investigators, the woman had been traveling with her mother and five-week-old daughter in the previous days. It was initially unknown where both of them were after the bodies were found.

The special “Rampe” commission that has been set up is currently continuing to search for the victim’s 51-year-old mother; her whereabouts remain unclear. The police are looking for the missing person with a photo and asked for information from witnesses.
