His mother will be extradited to France “in the coming days” announces Swiss justice

Legal proceedings continue in the case of the kidnapping of little Mia. His mother, arrested in Switzerland on Sunday will be extradited in the coming days, as well as another French national, Swiss judicial authorities said Thursday.

“The Federal Office of Justice today authorized the extradition to France of the two individuals on the basis of their consent. They will be handed over in the coming days, ”he told AFP.

A prepared kidnapping

Mia, 8, and her mother Lola Montemaggi, 28, were intercepted on April 18 by investigators in a squat, an abandoned factory in the commune of Sainte-Croix, located in the canton of Vaud, according to the prosecutor of the Republic of Nancy, François Pérain. The girl had been kidnapped without violence by three men while she was staying with her maternal grandmother in Poulières, a Vosges village located about thirty kilometers from Epinal.

According to the prosecutor, the protagonists of the kidnapping had “extremely well prepared”, like a “military operation”, going so far as to give it a code name: “Operation Lima”. At the same time, an examining magistrate from Nancy issued an international arrest warrant against Rémy Daillet, alleged “animator” of the anti-system “movement” of kidnappers of the little girl, announced Tuesday the public prosecutor of Nancy François Pérain.

“This arrest warrant was taken in the light of several elements, including the hearings of some of those placed in police custody and indicted,” said the magistrate in a press release. “In view of these elements, Rémy Daillet appears as the main animator of the” movement “within the framework of which the accused are registered”. Rémy Daillet “would have played a role in the organization of the kidnapping and would thus have provided the contact details of the welcoming mother and child in Neuchâtel”, adds the magistrate.
