Take a deep breath, leave the stress of everyday life behind and cover kilometers and kilometers. Many Germans regularly lace up their hiking boots to hike beautiful routes. And that’s no longer a hobby for seniors – even teenagers love the sport. In the year 2022 are noisy in Germany extra almost two million young people between the ages of 14 and 19 hiked frequently or occasionally.
But those who travel a lot on Germany’s hiking trails also need new inspiration for the next tours. Every year, the readers of the “Wandermagazin” the most beautiful hiking trails in Germany. The most beautiful hiking trails are awarded in the categories “Day tours” and “Multi-day tours”. 45,232 hikers cast their votes in both categories.
Hiking trails through Germany: Thuringia in first place for multi-day tours
In the day trips, the first three places go to Rhineland-Palatinate. The waterfall adventure route in the Vulkaneifel, the Auenlandweg in the Westerwald and the delicious path in the Hunsrück are on the podium. Last year, first prize in this category went to Thuringia – this year a multi-day tour around Jena won the title of Germany’s most beautiful hiking trail 2023.
