With 38.7 degrees in Bad Nauheim, Wednesday set a new high. 38.4 degrees were measured in Frankfurt’s Westend on Tuesday afternoon. The previous highs of the year were on June 18, when 36.4 degrees were reported in Geisenheim (Rheingau-Taunus) and 36.3 degrees in Offenbach.
The Hessian heat record is 40.2 degrees, reached on July 25, 2019 in Frankfurt’s Westend. On Tuesday, the hottest day of the year so far with average values over 35 degrees, 38.4 degrees were measured in Frankfurt.

“Sauna Effect” on Wednesday
With such high temperatures, there is a health risk, especially for older people: drink a lot, avoid direct sun – these are probably the most important tips to keep in mind, especially when it gets as humid as on Wednesday. “Due to the high humidity, the perceived temperature could be even higher,” says Staeger – the so-called “sauna effect”.
