The high-top sneaker trend will continue in 2024. We reveal which models are particularly popular and how you can style the shoes.
Sneakers can be found in almost every shoe cabinet. No wonder: they don’t go out of fashion, they’re comfortable and can be combined in many different ways. High-top sneakers will be particularly trendy in 2024. We present three trendy models and have styling tips ready.
High-top vs. low-top
Short digression: High-top sneakers are often associated with basketball, as the shoe has increasingly appeared in this sport. Thanks to its cut as a classic sports shoe, it provides additional padding, cushioning and stability. Similar is its shorter counterpart, the mid-top, with which the high-top sneaker is sometimes confused.
The third type of sneaker is low-top trainers, i.e. shoes that do not cover the ankles. They are also abbreviated as low-tops or lows. From a fashion point of view, it can be said that it is certainly more minimalist than the high-cut version, which attracts more attention. In addition to stylistic differences and different levels of support, there are also differences in seasonal use: high-cut sneakers usually keep you warmer than the flat-cut version and are better at repelling wind or moisture. This makes them more suitable for colder and rainy days.
High-top sneakers take up more space and are therefore more eye-catching. These models in particular will be the fashion focus in 2024.
1. High-top sneaker trend: The classics
In keeping with the retro trend, the 2024 high-top sneaker trend can be classic: whether Nikes, Vans or Converse, the traditional models always work. Unlined, they are also suitable for warmer days. The classics can also be combined in many ways: they go well with a casual look of jeans and a shirt or even with a dress. However, they make the legs look a little shorter than the low-top version, which leaves a little more skin visible.
2. High-top sneaker trend: Colorful models
This year things can be colorful – including when it comes to choosing sneakers. High tops with some color draw the eye directly to the kicks. The rest of the outfit should pick up the color from the shoes so that it looks harmonious. Or you can leave the look in subtle colors and draw the eye specifically to the high-top sneakers.
3. High-top sneaker trend: Clean
But the counterpart to the colorful model will also be trendy in 2024: High-top sneakers with a subtle style. Classically, they are rather chunky and a real eye-catcher when you think of the cool basketball shoes. But high-tops can also be worn as a slip-on option, plain and more delicate. This variant can of course be combined in a particularly versatile way because it doesn’t dictate any direction.
