Exceptional find in Romania:

Archaeologists have discovered a veritable treasure trove of ancient gold rings.

A woman who died 6,500 years ago wore the jewelry in her hair.

The tomb discovered includes 169 gold rings, 800 bone beads and an ornate spiral copper bracelet.

The discovery was made by a team from the Ţării Crişurilor Museum in Oradea, Romania.

The jewelry found was buried with a woman who researchers said was “extremely wealthy.”

Archaeologists identified the find as the remains of a woman based on the size of the skeleton and the fact that it was buried unarmed.

The skeleton also shows that the woman was tall and well fed, and her teeth were in good condition.

These are also indications of a woman who belonged to the elite at the time.

Călin Ghemiș, the project’s lead archaeologist, describes the find as a “phenomenal discovery” and says: “There is no such treasure in Central and Eastern Europe.”

The museum wants to know more about the woman who buried the treasures with.

Therefore, the bones were sent to laboratories in Marosvásárhely and Holland for carbon dating and DNA testing.

“We want to find out what culture the person belonged to and whether the rings were made of gold from the Transylvanian archipelago,” said Ghemis.

The team’s excavations took place from March to June 2022.

In addition to the incredible discovery of the Copper Age burial, other excavations along the route of a new highway under construction have unearthed remains from the Neolithic, Bronze Age, Roman Empire and Middle Ages, according to a post on Facebook.
