“today’s show”
Oliver Welke returns from the summer break
The summer break of the popular “heute show” is over. When she returns, the ZDF program comes up with a real innovation.
Innovation: “Today Show” with sign language
The ZDF show, which was awarded the Grimme Prize in 2010, has a welcome innovation from the first episode after the summer break. In the ZDF media library and the ZDF app, viewers can follow the entertainment program on Friday for the first time with the help of a sign language interpreter. The station itself describes this as “another milestone in the development of barrier-free offers on ZDF”. “There has long been a large ‘heute-show’ fanbase in the deaf community,” said Nicola Foltys, head of the accessibility department at ZDF.
The “heute-show” has been broadcast on ZDF since 2009 and is still very popular 14 years after the start of the program. Since then, the German version of the US American “Daily Show”, moderated by Oliver Welke, has received numerous television and media awards such as seven German Comedy Awards, four German Television Awards and a Bambi.
