Hertha BSC: Windhorst denies report on foreclosure – Sport

Investor Lars Windhorst has clearly rejected a media report about the alleged imminent foreclosure of his shares in Bundesliga soccer club Hertha BSC. “Clear denials,” wrote the entrepreneur on Wednesday evening with a look to a report by Business Insider: “The Hertha shares of Peil Investment are neither pledged nor will they be foreclosed on!”

Business Insider had previously reported that Windhorst had already pledged Peil Investment in the summer of 2020. This is a subsidiary of his Tennor Holding group, Windhorst holds the Hertha shares through Peil Investment. A notary from Amsterdam recently contacted Hertha and announced the upcoming foreclosure sale of the Dutch Peil Investment – if this were to be auctioned, this would also apply to the Hertha shares. The compulsory auction was ordered a year ago, on April 1, 2021, by the Amsterdam District Court.

Already in the report of Business Insider a spokesman for Windhorst had his say. The process described “does not correspond to the current facts, but has long been done,” he said: “The confirmation you claim from the notary to have initiated preparations for the foreclosure sale does not exist.” Windhorst joined Hertha in 2019 and has since invested around 375 million euros in the club.
