Hertha BSC will probably bring Toni Leistner on a free transfer – as a leading player

After being relegated to the 2nd division, Hertha BSC has apparently sealed another newcomer. As the “sports picture” reported, the Berliners found what they were looking for in the person of Toni Leistner. The 32-year-old central defender, who was active in the German lower house for HSV in 2020/21 and last two years successfully at VV St. Truiden, should come on a free transfer after his contract ends. A commitment is imminent.

Rumor: Toni Leistner to Hertha BSC

Leistner is already in the capital, after successfully completing the medical check, he is said to be the fifth newcomer to Hertha after Marius Gersbeck, Fabian Reese, Gustav Christensen and Jeremy Dudziak. The veteran is planned as a leading player at BSC and should support the young defense colleagues around Marton Dardai and Linus Gechter. Loud sky a contract until 2025 with an option is under discussion.

Market value of Toni Leistner

For Leistner, the chapter at Hertha would mean a return to Berlin. Between 2014 and 2018, the right-footed player, who has always changed clubs on a free transfer throughout his career, made 119 appearances for Union Berlin, more than for any other club. TM user and Hertha fan “Jefferson45” is happy, but at the same time points out: “In purely player terms, that would be a great transfer. Experienced, physically strong, mentality – our team is still missing something like that. As a stabilizer, I see this transfer very positively! What surprises me is the position of the IV. We don’t actually have a need there at the moment.”
