Football professional Aymen Barkok from Hertha BSC Berlin was apparently brutally beaten in a Berlin nightclub. The incident occurred on the night of Saturday to Sunday. According to media information, the 25-year-old footballer is said to have suffered severe facial fractures. It has already been operated on and is in the hospital. The police are investigating the case. Both Hertha and 1. FSV Mainz 05, who loaned Barkok to the Berliners, confirmed the incident. The clubs did not announce how long the professional would be out. Hertha, only said that Barkok would be out “for the time being” and reacted to the incident with “horror”.

Twelve times in action for Hertha BSC Berlin

As several media outlets consistently report, the attack is said to have occurred in the entrance area of the Bricks nightclub on Gendarmenmarkt. There, several people are said to have attacked Barkok and fled immediately after the crime.

The German-Moroccan has been playing on loan at the capital club since mid-January. Since then he has been used twelve times and was on the starting line-up ten times. At the next start, a purchase obligation of 600,000 euros should apply. It is questionable whether this will come about now. On Saturday afternoon at the game Hertha against Hannover 96 (1:1), Barkok was on the bench for ninety minutes. Hertha is currently in 8th place in the table and has no chance of promotion.
