Kevin-Prince Boateng has gotten around a lot in his career. The 34-year-old regrets exactly two decisions that he made.
Kevin-Prince Boateng (34) from Bundesliga club Hertha BSC looked back on his career so far and let it be known which two decisions he regrets today.
The long-time national player of Ghana spoke in a detailed interview at the club format “A Tach with” about his career and revealed that he regretted his early departure from the capital city club a little. “I was 20 years old, a regular – it was all good. I was at home, my family was here,” said the midfielder about 2007.
However, he was “bought away” by Tottenham Hotspur. “I should have stayed here for another two or three years, then maybe I would have become a German national player.” The Spurs secured the services of the then 20-year-old for 7.9 million euros.

Boateng sees the other mistake in his career in the decision to have signed with FC Schalke 04. Because he even turned down an offer from a top club.
At the age of 26, Boateng moved from AC Milan to Gelsenkirchen in 2013 for ten million euros. “I had the opportunity to move to Manchester United. I chose Germany – then you saw what happened to me at Schalke,” explained Boateng.
In two years he made only 18 appearances at Schalke and was also sharply criticized in the media. For a long time he was said to be unable to get out of himself.
“At some point I became intelligent. It started with Milan. I played with world stars and learned something from everyone,” said the 34-year-old about his development, which was shaped by many club changes from 2015 onwards.

In 2015 he returned to Milan. Since then, the native of Berlin has played for Eintracht Frankfurt, UD Las Palmas, US Sassuolo, FC Barcelona, AC Florence, Besiktas and AS Monza. He has been under contract with Hertha since summer 2021.
The veteran has learned the most from none other than Zlatan Ibrahimovic. “Through him I learned: It’s just hard work. You have to have the will and do more than everyone else, because everyone is talented. What prevails is the will,” enthuses Boateng about his companion at the time.
