Hertha BSC: Arne Friedrich will stop in the summer – Bundesliga

Arne Friedrich (42) will leave Hertha BSC in the summer and end his work as sports director at the capital city club. The club announced.

Friedrich on the club’s website: “I am very grateful to the entire Hertha family for the time we spent together and for the trust placed in me. The past two and a half years have been very intense and marked by changes.”

Friedrich was hired in November 2019 as a so-called performance manager by the then coach Jürgen Klinsmann (57). In July 2020, the native of East Westphalia was promoted to sports director.

Friedrich explains: “I returned in 2019 to support the club and do my part to stabilize Hertha BSC and lead them into calmer waters. We have lived through many ups and downs, whereby the positive moments clearly stand out for me. Also thanks to the great people who give their all for the club every day.”

The contract with the sports director would have expired in the summer. Now it is clear: Then Friedrich will also leave the club.

Manager Fredi Bobic (50) thanked Friedrich, saying: “Arne Friedrich was and is in a difficult situation for Hertha BSC every day with a lot of energy, passion and drive to move the club forward. Always with clear ideas and a clear attitude.”

Bobic on another possible collaboration: “It’s no secret that the USA plays an important role for him and we are working together to see how he can be of help to us there in the future.”
