Why such an invoice?

Before proceeding to pay this invoice, it is necessary to verify the cause. Here are some of the most common causes and solutions:

  • If this is your first year with this energy supplier, it will be necessary to check that the selected contract corresponds to your needs. It may then be useful to contact him to take stock.
  • If you have moved into a new home, it may require insulation work. If you are an owner, it may be necessary to take stock of the work to be carried out in order to limit your future expenses.
  • It is also important to take into account that the gradual disappearance of the tariff shield has left room for increases of up to 25%.
  • Finally, make sure to adopt good daily habitssuch as turning off lights when leaving rooms, following temperature recommendations, etc.

Regularization invoice, what is it?

If you are monthly, every month, you pay a due date which was defined when you took out your contract according to your needs. This fixed deadline can be changed at any timedepending on your contract.

Then, in the twelfth month, you receive a regularization invoice the amount of which corresponds to the difference between the estimated consumption that you have already paid over the months and the amount of your actual consumption.

This invoice therefore allows your supplier either to reimburse you for the overpayment, if you paid more than what you consumed, or to request payment of the balance due, if your consumption was greater than expected. In the latter case, depending on the amount, this payment may prove problematic for you.

Upon receipt of your regularization invoice, if it indicates an amount that seems exorbitant to you:

  • Check if your actual consumption for this period shows a difference that justifies such a difference.
  • Check the figures indicated on your meter to ensure that there has been no reading error.
  • In all cases, contact your energy supplier as soon as possiblebecause your consumption may have been underestimated, or you may have changed electrical equipment or added new appliances which are not taken into account in the estimate

Stagger

As we have seen, if the amount of your regularization bill is too high, it is recommended to contact your energy supplier as quickly as possible.

This approach will allow you to request an installment of this invoice over the coming months.

You will then be able to continue paying the fixed monthly amount of your subscription while gradually paying off your debt. Furthermore, it may also be interesting to consider a change of subscription, especially if your consumption is higher than expected. You’ll probably pay more each month, but at least you won’t find yourself facing this kind of problem again.

Contact a social worker

You can also contact a social worker. You can go to the town hall to request one. Depending on your situation, assistance, which allows partial or total payment of your regularization bill, may be offered to you.
