Here is the list of the 26 Casino stores in the Var which will become Auchan or Intermarché

These are therefore 26 Var Casino stores which will be taken over in the short term as part of the agreement signed between the Saint-Etienne brand which is currently undergoing restructuring and the Auchan and Intermarché groups. The initial list of affected stores, which Var-morning released this Tuesday, January 23, has barely changed compared to the final document submitted this Wednesday afternoon to the social partners which covers 288 sites and no longer 313.

Municipality by municipality

The stores which have been “exited” from the scope therefore remain for the moment within the fold of Casino, pending another takeover solution by other players.

This is the case of the Géant Casino in Gassin. The new landscape of Var large-scale distribution could, however, still evolve, if the Competition Authority considers that in certain municipalities, Auchan or Intermarché, already very present, must sell the store taken over to another brand in order not to be in a situation of monopoly.

Intermarché could thus resell certain acquisitions to Carrefour if this scenario arises. In the meantime, the Casino group announced this Wednesday, ahead of the CSE marking the start of the consultation, having concluded an agreement which provides for the sale of 288 stores (and the service stations attached to the stores), on the basis of a enterprise value between 1.3 and 1.35 billion euros.

Three waves

The completion of the transfers will take place in the 2nd quarter of 2024, after consultation with the staff representative bodies concerned, in three successive waves: on April 30, 2024, on May 31, 2024 and on July 1, 2024. “The agreements also provide that as part of the operation, the activity of the Aix-en-Provence 1 (13) warehouse will be maintained on behalf of Auchan and the logistics service contracts of Montélimar Frais (26), Corbas Gel (69) and Salon-de-Provence Gel (13) are transferred to the Les Mousquetaires Group. indicates the Casino group in a press release.

Faced with the concerns of the social partners, the buyers also undertake to take over all the employment contracts of the employees assigned to the transferred stores and service stations but also to “maintain, with regard to employees assigned to stores, the provisions and benefits resulting from the Casino collective status for a period of 15 months from the date of completion of the transfer”.

Auchan and Intermarché also say they are attentive to applications from employees who would like to become business managers by taking over a store themselves. This will undoubtedly not reassure staff representatives, worried to see the franchise model, less protective for employees in their eyes than that of large groups, developing. The scope of the 288 stores sold concerns 13,000 employees in France.
