Three dictations, three sponsors, three themes. On Sunday June 4, the Comité des Champs-Elysées aims to break the world record for the largest dictation in the world bringing together the largest number of participants ever gathered simultaneously. In the most beautiful open-air classroom in the world, more than 5,000 participants will try to avoid the pitfalls of the French language during The Great Dictation of the Fields. Traps read by two godfathers and a godmother.
The 1,700 participants in the first dictation, supervised by the Guinness World Records, will have the journalist and presenter of “La Grande Librairie” Augustin Trapenard as storyteller for the “dictation of our childhood”. The novelist Katherine Pancol will try a faultless with 1,700 other participants for the “dictation of today”. A final class just as large as the two previous ones will have Pierre Rabadan, five-time French rugby champion and assistant to Anne Hidalgo in charge of sport and the Olympic and Paralympic Games, as reader of the “sports dictation”.
Last draw Wednesday
All participants will leave with a gift from the Bic event partners – a collector’s four-colour pen –, Livre de Poche or Le Petit Robert. They are invited to give a second life to the books in their library by furnishing the shelves of the book boxes arranged by Libraries Without Borders.
To register for one of the three dictations, it’s this way. The last draw to participate will take place on Wednesday. Since the launch of registrations, 40,000 people have tried to be part of the 5,100 privileged class Champs-Elysées.
