Henry Cavill, who was fired as Superman, takes on the leading role in the “Warhammer 40,000” series and film universe for Amazon Studios.
Superstar Henry Cavill (39) made headlines this week when he himself announced his departure from Superman. James Gunn (56), the new head of DC Studios, decided against further films with the British actor as a Kryptonian superhero after returning as a man of steel in the DC film “Black Adam” in October. But now the already busy Cavill has already been able to get hold of his next project: In a connected series and film universe based on the tabletop game “Warhammer 40,000”, Cavill takes on the leading role and acts as executive producer. This reports “Deadline”.
Amazon plans a connected universe for “Warhammer 40,000”
As a result, Amazon Studios has secured the rights to what is probably the most popular tabletop game in the world. A connected universe is planned, which according to “Deadline” will probably also include games and animation projects. As a producer, Cavill will also have a say in behind-the-scenes business decisions. The star writes on Instagram: “Now, after 22 years of experience in the entertainment business, I finally feel I have the skills and experience to create a Warhammer Cinematic Universe”.
Cavill describes the search for a “filmmaker, series creator and writer” as the following “first steps”. Amazon will give the planned large-scale project “the freedom to do justice to the massive scale of Warhammer”. Cavill himself has revealed himself as a big fan of the game in the past.

In the Warhammer 40,000 tabletop game, players engage in battles with miniature figures of warriors and combat vehicles. In the far future of the 40th century, highly militarized humanity wages war against various alien races in a galaxy-spanning conflict. “Warhammer 40k”, as the game is also called, is a mixture of science fiction and fantasy.
