Helmut Dietl created classics such as the TV series “Kir Royal” and the hit film “Schtonk!”. Which of his works still affects you today?
“On searching and finding love”. For me this is his most emotional film. It was created during the time when we met and our daughter was born.
He was a revered director. How did you meet?
At a media meeting in Cologne, he sat in a white suit and smoked a cigarette, surrounded by several actresses. The scene was exactly the cliche image I had of him. As we looked at each other, I was fascinated by the ambivalence in his eyes: he was enjoying the situation, while his eyes radiated a deep sadness and vulnerability. That touched me.
