Three weeks after the assassination attempt on Hitler on July 20, 1944, Carl Goerdeler, who had been designated as Reich Chancellor by the conspirators, was arrested. Goerdeler, wanted with a profile, had been recognized and denounced by a woman who had last seen him 21 years earlier. Helga Schubert tells the story of this woman, her denunciation with subsequent reward – one million Reichsmarks including a handshake from the Fiihrer – and finally the trial and punishment after the war on eleven printed pages.
