Gerhard Prixner’s mother-in-law died eight years ago. “It came suddenly for us, we were completely unprepared,” he says today in a lowered voice. His wife mourned her mother deeply. The situation was made worse by what Prixner calls “the turmoil around the house”. The mother left her two daughters a home of their own in a suburb of Regensburg, otherwise there was hardly any wealth. She had built the house with her husband, who died years before her. The daughters spent their childhood in it.
