In June 2021, one of the largest drug trials in recent decades came to an end in Heilbronn. Now investigators have struck another blow against drug crime.

According to their own statements, investigators from the Heilbronn police headquarters have confiscated the “largest amount of the drug crystal meth in Germany to date”. The substance methamphetamine had already been confiscated in Heilbronn in the past few weeks, it was said. The officials did not initially provide any further information, such as the exact amount of drugs, on Wednesday. The public prosecutor’s office and the police want to provide detailed information on the investigation at a press conference on Friday.

Hamburg customs: No relation to the find

The largest single discovery of the drug crystal meth in the port of Hamburg have no connection to the now announced find by the Heilbronn police, the Hamburg customs investigation informed the SWR on request. On September 27, Hamburg customs presented a find of 182 kilograms of crystal meth. The estimated market value was 14 million euros. At that time, the investigators spoke of the largest amount that had been discovered in Germany in a single find.

A trial at the Heilbronn district court in June 2021 drew a lot of attention to drug crime in the region. Several members of a drug dealer gang were sentenced to long prison terms. The procedure is considered to be one of the largest drug trials in Heilbronn-Franconia in recent decades.

The seven men and one woman are said to have traded a good two tons of marijuana and 30 kilograms of cocaine in the Heilbronn area from October 2018 to July 2020. The proceeds from these drug deals amount to more than one million euros.
