Heidelberg: Suspected killing spree on university campus with injuries

On the premises of the University of Heidelberg, a lone perpetrator injured several people in a lecture hall in an alleged killing spree with a long gun. The perpetrator is now dead, police said Süddeutsche Zeitung. The operation has been running since around 12:30 p.m.

There is currently no danger to the population. The police are currently ruling out the possibility that there are one or more other perpetrators. To be on the safe side, the area at Neuenheimer Feld in front of the gates of Heidelberg’s old town will continue to be searched. There is no information yet on the identity of the injured and the perpetrator. According to reports, according to initial findings, there appears to be no religious or political motive.

As the SWR reports, the university asked the students by e-mail not to come to Neuenheimer Feld. The campus at Neuenheimer Feld north of the Neckar is mainly home to the natural science faculties and parts of the university hospital. The police asked motorists to drive around the site so that rescue workers can drive freely.
