Hebron: What a soup kitchen tells us about life in the West Bank

Melek and Malik laboriously carry the soup pots across the street. Even empty, they are so heavy that the two siblings can barely carry them with their children’s arms. It is two streets from her home in Hebron to the “Takiat Ibrahim” soup kitchen. Malik, he is nine years old, smiles proudly: “We are seven siblings at home and mom and dad. And we bring food for everyone.” His sister Melek, 10, says: “Today there should be meat, not just soup like usual.”
