Heavy rain, gusts up to 100km/h, snow from 1,300m… Météo-France’s turbulent forecasts for this weekend in the Alpes-Maritimes and the Var

The weekends follow one another and could be similar… While the deluge hit the Alpes-Maritimes last weekend, a new episode of heavy precipitation is expected again, for Saturday March 9 and Sunday March 10 .

Here is what Météo-France forecasts.

Heavy rain and up to 30cm of snow in mid-mountains

For Friday, rain is expected with gusts between 80 and 100 km/h in Provence and the Côte d’Azur. It is in the evening that the disturbance will strongly reach the Alpes-Maritimes and the Var.

On Saturday, the Côte d’Azur will be very wet again with cumulative rainfall still around 80-100mm in 24 hours in places, according to Météo-France. On the wind side, gusts ranging from 80 to 100 km/h are expected.

In the mountains, snow is expected in mid-mountains but this time more frankly, particularly in the southern Alps with 15 to 30cm of snow expected from 1,300 meters up to 50cm from 1,800m, particularly on Mercantour.
